Over the River and Through the Bush

Excerpts from our June Newsletter- Plus a few extras :)

Pics taken from our Bike Expedition

It's laundry/dish washing time down at the river! What color is the water that you wash your dishes with?

These children are a part of a village that had 2 deaths and 196 homes destroyed during the rainy season in the past few months.

The Mahale Mountains served as backdrop for much our time out there.
 Lord, Your beauty is breathtaking!

The bucket inside the canoe at this river crossing, quickly became our best friend, as they bailed out the rush of incoming water during our crossing.
Just your typical 9-5 job right???

We were quickly losing daylight, after encountering many more arduous river crossings than expected, and we still hadn't made it to our destination. "Home Sweet Home" for the night.

This guy is responsible for puncturing the engine (crankcase) of our bike, during John's fall- thank God it didn't catch his leg when he went down.

And just when you are beginning to allow yourself to dream of a hot shower and a bed...

Bike out of commission, just 30 minutes away from home, as we were heading back from a long 10 hrs of driving. Just glad it wasn't any further away.

There is the lovely hole from the rock.

At the end of the day, the dirt and the smile say it all.

Thank you all for your prayers!

After...

*24 hours total driving on our bikes

*8 river crossings- 4 by putting our motorcycles and

4 by CARRYING them through the rivers

*1 sprained knee

*1 leg with 2nd degree burns

*1 puncture in our engine (crankcase)

*2 flat tires

*countless mosquito bites

... the expedition was a success!
